Annual General Meeting!!!
I am going to try and post all the information here istead of sending people long e-mails.
Our meeting is scheduled for Thursday November 22 at 7:30. We booked a room at the Clagary Outdoor Council Building at 1111 Memorial Drive NW. Parking is available if ou are coming from west Memorial. Otherwise the parking lot is a pain to access.
Firstly, we were audited by the AGLC. They require us to clean up our constitution to ensure they get casino money back if the club disovles. If anyone wants to have a look at the constitution and suggest any further changes, now would be the time. I will see if I can scan in and post a PDF copy.
Secondly, we will elect our executive. Nominations will be taken from the floor for all positions.
Our current executive is as follows:
President: James Purdy
Treasurer: Dianne Sutherland/ Joanne Breau
VP Road: Graeme Thomson
VP Track: Bob Veroba
VP MTB: Cory Wallace
VP Cyclo: Per Strom
The treasurer is probably the most crucial position in the executive and the most onerous as they keep our finances is line with AGLC requirements. Dianne moved to Innisfail and Joanne will be moving to Montreal so we need a treasurer.
Thirdly, we are looking into tying our banking to a sponsor or at least getting a credit card.
Fourthly, Sean Huggins-Chan has been looking into potential sponsorship for the club. I am thinking that we will not not change the kit radically so that we can still use our old stuff to compete in.
Fifthly, we always have club awards and I am accepting nomimations.
We have no fixed categories but needless to say I will have swimsuit locked up.
Lastly, reimbursement.
We reimburse with if you provide receipts!!! We were audited by AGLC and we made it through very well because in years past everyone provided great receipts! We reimburse:
1. Oval and coaching fees;
a) all juniors and u17 can claim up to $2000 for coaching and camps
b) all 19-22 can claim $1000
c) paralympic athletes over 22 can claim $1000
2. Alberta race entry fees;
3. Travel (gas only) in Alberta as long as more than one member was in the car;
4. We will only reimburse out of province travel if prior aproval was obtained. This is a AGLC rule.
I will review this information and advies of changes.
Cheers!!!!!

Sponsor Ship Package!
We are creating a sponsorship package to provide to potential sponsors in order to get swag and cash. Seriously, our club members continue to get national attention and we believe that we should capitaliaze on our collective successes. Please start working on a short race resume and submit them to me in Word format by the end of June.
I have fallen behind!!!
Lots has happened since my last post. Julie Beveridge is kicking it out there. She finished 6th at Mount hood and is now competing in the Tour of PEI. Results are posted on Canadian Cyclist.
bicisport crushed most of the competition at velocity shishkabob in Edmonton last weekend. MacD finished 2nd overall. Ellen Sparling and Jessica Kissell finished 1 2. I finished 10th! Full results and pictures are posted on the ABA website.
Lastly, email me if you are going to Devon so we can cooridinate accom and transport. You must register by Karelo so keep your receipt!

Velocity Stage Race Results!!!!
Despite driving up in a snow storm and then battling killer crosswinds in the TT and RR, bicisport did fabulously last weekend in Edmonton.
Julie Beveridge crushed all comers, including me, in the time trial. She then cruised to fourth in the crit and made the break in the road race for another fourth securing 1st in GC. Jessica Kissel performed splendidly with a sixth in the time trial, a solid performance in the crit, but just missed the break in the road race. Regardless, Jess took tenth in the GC and she will be representing Alberta, however, at Junior Road Nationals in July. Joanne Breau took eigth in the time trial and 11th in the RR showing again she is a serious force. Lauren Lankester, and Ellen Sparling, in her bici debut, also had fantastic performances. I smell dynasty.
Other notables:
Shawn Bunnin - 3rd in RR
Jesse Collins - 4th in crit
Me - 8th in crit
Chris Sparling - 4th in TT and 7th overall
Ryan Campbell - 4th in RR
Bob Veroba, Bob McKerrel, Eric Wong, and Brayden McDougall all also made solid contributions.
If anyone has pictures please e-mail to me and I will post them up. I especially want the one where we are stuck behind the cultivator and the snowplow.

Putting the Fun in Fundraising
One of our new members, Dereck Lynn, says:
A new road bike cycling tour raising money for charity is coming to Calgary this year on July 21st and 22nd that I thought you and the other members of bicisport might be interested in. It is called the Tour For Kids and is part of an organization called Coast to Coast Against Cancer. All proceeds from the ride will go to the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, in support of sending children with cancer to camp in Alberta.
The ride is approximately 160 km or 100 km per day and is fully supported. The ride will also be organised into smaller groups of 20 riders of similar strength into pace groups, which is great for me because 160km is a long way for me to go solo.
Here is the link for the website with complete information.

The company I work for (Enerplus Resources Fund) is a sponsor and I have also signed up to race.
Cheers!

Group Rides!
Now that the weather has finally decided to cooperate, we can schedule a group ride. Members of bicisport and the "block"heads are leaving from the Cabin at 10 am on Saturday and Sunday. I expect that three or four groups will form and the different groups will go different distances.
The Cabin is at 10-4623 Bow Trail SW.
The Cabin is also the launch site for the Wednesday Night Jam. The ride is a race of attrition to Cochrane. It leaves at 6. Bring a barf bag.
